Details

The lifeboat launched to a report of two persons in a dinghy, waving for assistance about half a mile off Seaview Caravan Park, Swalecliffe.

On arrival the crew found that the two persons and their dinghy were being towed in by a passing speedboat. The lifeboat took the two persons and their dinghy aboard and landed them ashore at the caravan park into the care of a mobile coastguard unit.

The lifeboat was about to return to station when it was diverted to a report of two persons on inflatables being blown seawards between Hampton Pier and Herne Bay Pier. On arrival it was found that two female children, one in a small inflatable dinghy and one on an inflatable ring (lashed together) had been taken aboard a local Yacht Club safety boat.

So that the safety boat could resume its duties, the lifeboat took the casualties aboard and landed them ashore into the care of a parent. The lifeboat then returned to station.
