The lifeboat launched following a 999 call
to Thames Coastguard reporting two canoeists in difficulties off Reculver.
The lifeboat arrived on scene to find the
two canoes now ashore, being recovered over the rocks. The two occupants
were both very cold, having been in the water for some time, so were
placed in the Herne Bay Coastguard vehicle.
A lifeboat crewman was landed ashore with
the oxygen kit, to treat one of the casualties whilst awaiting the arrival of
an ambulance.
Once they were safely on their way to
hospital, the crewman was recovered from the beach, and the lifeboat returned to
station.
