Details

The lifeboat was launched to a report of a yacht aground on the Columbine Spit, about 2 miles north of Whitstable.

The lifeboat located the 23 foot vessel with three persons onboard making way under sail having briefly run aground and losing engine power.

The occupants requested a tow into deeper water and a lifeboat crewmember went aboard to assist. Once satisfied that all onboard were safe the lifeboat left the yacht to continue on its way to Southend under sail.
