Having launched at 1045 on a routine training
exercise, at 1100 the lifeboat was requested to assist a 25' motor boat
300 yards off the West Beach, Whitstable. A person had been seen in the
water next to the craft, waving for assistance.
On arrival the lifeboat crew discovered that the boat
had been trying to anchor, but the anchor had dragged and fouled one of the
yellow 8 knot speed limit buoys. The person in the water had been trying to
free it.
The man reboarded his craft, and a lifeboat crewman
was able to free the anchor. The motor boat then moved to an alternative
location to anchor, and the lifeboat returned to station.
