Thames CG requested the lifeboat to launch following a report of an upturned canoe drifting off Long Rock, Swalecliffe.

Having checked that there was no one in the immediate vicinity, the lifeboat landed the canoe ashore to the Coastguard Sector Manager, then commenced an initial search between Long Rock and Herne Bay Pier. As a lifejacket had also now been found on the beach at Tankerton, the search was then extended eastwards as far as Bishopstone Glen. 

However with nothing untoward found, at 1235 the lifeboat was released to return to station.
