The lifeboat launched to assist the 28-foot yacht Arkanida which had run aground earlier in the day near Shellness on the Isle of Sheppey. 

On locating the casualty vessel and following discussions with the skipper, the lifeboat crew waited for the tide to rise before towing the craft into deeper water. The yacht made its own way to a mooring in the Swale and its skipper, who came from Essex and had been on passage from Thurrock to Ramsgate, remained onboard overnight.
