The lifeboat launched following a report of a man having jumped into the sea from Herne Bay Pier. Police were on scene trying to encourage him to swim back towards the shore.

On arrival the lifeboat was asked to stand off discreetly, as the man had now come out of the water, but was still very agitated. Once he was safely in the care of police and ambulance personnel, the lifeboat was released to return to station.
