Thames Coastguard requested the lifeboat to launch to assist a speedboat which had been reported broken down and drifting between Bishopstone and Reculver.

The lifeboat located the craft, which had five people on board, half a mile east of Black Rock, off Reculver. It was taken under tow to Herne Bay Harbour, and met by Herne Bay Coastguard.

The lifeboat then returned to station..
