Thames CG requested the lifeboat to launch to check on a kitesurfer reported in the vicinity of the windfarm. Persons ashore had expressed concern for his wellbeing.

The lifeboat crew located the kitesurfer half a mile E of the SE corner of the windfarm. He was sailing strongly towards the shore, and declined any assistance. He was therefore kept under observation as he made his own way ashore, and landed on the beach at Bishopstone, where he was met by members of Herne Bay Coastguard.

Whilst returning to station the lifeboat was asked to recover a kayak drifting between Hampton and Herne Bay Pier, with no persons involved. The kayak and a paddle were brought aboard the lifeboat, and landed back ashore to their owner.

The lifeboat then returned to station.
