Whitstable Lifeboat had its first call of
2010 when it was launched to assist a 22' angling boat which had suffered
engine failure amongst the turbines of the Kentish Flats Windfarm.
On arrival the lifeboat put a crewman
aboard to assist in recovering the casualty's anchor, and the craft was
then taken in tow for Herne Bay.
As the state of the tide prevented the
casualty vessel from being put on its own mooring, it was moored outside
the harbour, and the three occupants landed ashore at Neptune Jetty to be
met by Herne Bay Coastguard.
The lifeboat then returned to station.
