The lifeboat was launched to a report of a kayaker trapped under the West Quay of Whitstable Harbour. On arrival the crew, assisted by the Herne Bay Mobile Coastguard and staff from Vestas Offshore (the Kentish Flats wind farm maintenance firm) transferred the casualty to the lifeboat  following which he was landed asshore at the harbour ramp.

 The man was conscious but cold and distressed and was subsequently transferred by ambulance to hospital in Canterbury.
