Thames CG requested the lifeboat to launch following a 999 call reporting a 10' dinghy at anchor half a mile off Preston Parade, Seasalter.

People had previously been seen fishing from the dinghy, but it now appeared to be empty.

When the lifeboat arrived alongside the dinghy it was found to contain angling gear and personal effects. A search was commenced for anyone who may have been in the water, but shortly afterwards the dinghy's owner made himself known to Herne Bay Coastguards, who were on the beach, and confirmed that nobody was missing.

The lifeboat then towed the dinghy ashore for recovery by the owner.
