Thames Coastguard requested the
lifeboat to launch to a report of a 17 foot yacht aground off Fowley
Island between Harty Ferry and Conyer Creek in the Swale. One person was
reported as being onboard with another adrift in a dinghy.
On arrival of the lifeboat both
the yacht and dinghy were found aground in the same location and due to
shallow water a lifeboat crewman walked across to the casualty vessel to
establish its occupants intentions. Both occupants were advised to come
onboard the lifeboat and after setting out two anchors they were taken in
shallow water, in their dinghy, to the waiting lifeboat and transferred
ashore into the care of the coastguards waiting at Harty Ferry just to the
west of Faversham Creek.
