Thames CG requested the lifeboat to launch following
a report of an inflatable dinghy with two people on board which was
being blown out to sea off Leysdown by a fresh offshore breeze.
The lifeboat arrived on scene nine minutes later to
find the dinghy being walked ashore by the occupants, having been towed in
by a passing craft. However a council lifeguard, who had gone to assist the
inflatable, was still 500 yards offshore, exhausted He and his rescue
board were brought aboard the lifeboat, and landed ashore on Leysdown beach.
The lifeboat was then tasked to assist a windsurfer in
difficulties 500 yards NNW of Whitstable Harbour. He had been in the water
for some time, having suffered a broken boom. He was brought aboard the
lifeboat, and landed ashore at the Long Beach, to the east of the harbour,
where he was me by Herne Bay Coastguard and the Coastguard Sector Manager.
