The lifeboat launched to assist an angling dinghy with two people on board, broken down a mile off Herne Bay. The craft's outboard engine had overheated, causing it to seize.

The lifeboat took the dinghy under tow, and landed it ashore at Herne Bay Harbour, where Herne Bay Coastguard were on hand to give assistance and safety advice.
